Tillage Applications
Importing Tillage from John Deere Operations Center (Beta)
Introduction
This guide will help you understand how to import tillage operations from John Deere Operations Center into your Harvest Profit account. Enabling tillage imports allows all application passes — including tillage, chemical, fertilizer, and seeding — to be pulled into Harvest Profit from Operations Center, giving you a complete picture of every data layer on your fields.
⚠️ Note: Importing tillage is currently a beta feature and is not enabled by default. Contact Harvest Profit support at support@harvestprofit.com to have this feature turned on for your account.
Why Import Tillage?
✅ Pros
- Get all data layers into Harvest Profit. With tillage imports enabled, every operation pass recorded in Operations Center — tillage, seeding, chemical applications, and fertilizer applications — can be imported into Harvest Profit. This ensures your field-level cost tracking and profitability analysis reflects the full scope of work done on each field.
- Spatial data included. Tillage operations import with spatial (map) data, giving you geographic insight into where work was completed.
- Streamlined workflow. No need to manually add tillage passes — they flow in automatically alongside your other machine data.
⚠️ Things to Know
- Tillage acres may be higher than your field acres. If you do not have a work recording setup configured to account for overlap, the imported tillage acres can exceed your actual field size. For example, a field may be 100 acres, but the tillage pass could show 116+ acres due to overlapping passes at headlands, waterways, or field edges. This is expected behavior and reflects how Operations Center records the operation.
- Tillage imports as a Misc. Cost. Since tillage is not a product-based application (like seed or fertilizer), it will appear under Misc. Costs on the Applications page with a default cost of $0 /ac and a category of Other. You can manually add a cost per acre to capture custom tillage expenses (fuel, wear, etc.).
💡 Tip: You can create a custom category (e.g., "Tillage") to tag your tillage operations separately from other misc. costs. This makes it easier to track and report on tillage expenses as their own line item rather than having them grouped under the generic "Other" category. To create a custom category, navigate to the Inputs page, select Overhead, and click Manage Categories. From there you can add a new category called "Tillage." Once created, it will be available in the Category dropdown on your imported tillage entry on the Applications page.

2. Access Your Applications Page
Go to the Applications page in your Harvest Profit account and select the field where you want to import machine data.
3. Open the Machine Data Panel
Click on the field to open the Machine Data panel. You will see the Available tab showing all operations ready to import from Operations Center — including any tillage passes.

In the example above, you can see two available operations:
- Tillage — dated May 15, with 1 product
- Soybean Post 2025 — dated Jul 1, with 7 products
4. Import Tillage Operations
Select the Tillage operation (or click Import All Operations to bring in everything at once), then click Import.
5. Review the Imported Tillage Application
After importing, the tillage pass will appear on your Applications page as a Misc. Cost entry. Review the details to confirm accuracy.

⚠️ Note: The 116.81 acres shown here may exceed the actual field acreage. This happens when the work recording in Operations Center does not account for overlap during tillage passes. If accurate acre tracking is important, ensure your equipment's work recording settings in Operations Center are properly configured to handle overlap.
6. (Optional) Add a Tillage Cost
If you want to track tillage as an expense, click into the Cost field and enter your per-acre tillage cost. This will factor into your field-level profitability calculations.
