Changing Production/Yield Units

Introduction: You can switch your Harvest Profit unit setting from Bushels (BU) to Metric Tons (MT), but there are important considerations to ensure your data remains accurate.

Steps

  1. Change the unit setting for your crops
    • Go to Account Settings > Crops.
    • Click on the crop you want to change.
    • Click the dropdown for Unit, then select the appropriate unit (e.g., Metric Tons).
  2. Understand the impact of switching to MT
    • This change will apply to all seasons in Harvest Profit.
    • If you do not update your crop yields to reflect MT, your production numbers will appear incorrect.
  3. Be aware of limitations for certain crops
    • For crops with a futures market (excluding barley), switching to MT may cause issues if there is unsold production.
    • Improvements are in progress to better support MT as a defined unit.
  4. Review your Operation Center yield data
    • Currently, your barley yield data imports in bushels.
    • Consider whether you expect this data to come in metric tons instead.
    • Also consider whether all crops in your operation will be harvested using metric units.
Note: If you switch to Metric Tons, make sure to update all relevant yield and production data to avoid discrepancies in reporting and analysis.
